🧠 Insights You Won’t Forget
Top Insights compiled from the past week!
High-Status Sports as Community and Business
Padel is a fast-growing sport, particularly among urban professionals. With only ~2,000 courts in the U.S. compared to 20,000 in Spain, there’s massive whitespace for building clubs, apps, and leagues, especially with built-in social clout.
AI-Powered Personal Software is the Future
Building small internal tools (e.g., homeownership task managers) shows how AI can empower non-technical people to create personalized productivity software, automating previously tedious tasks.
Relationships Are the Ultimate Moat
The most lucrative investments and opportunities often come through relationships, not cold outreach. Andrew’s highest-quality deal flow comes from friends, referrals, and long-nurtured networks, not bankers or intermediaries.
Your Job as a Founder is to Delegate
True entrepreneurship is delegation. If you don’t delegate, you’re just a stressed-out employee with a crazy boss, yourself. Andrew’s trajectory was CEO → Delegator → Investor.
Play Conversational Tennis
Great connections come from deep, mutual curiosity. Ask questions that go beyond status or surface talk, e.g., “What was that like for you?” or “What’s your worm-gooey center?” to build real relationships fast.
Work-Life Realities of M&A
Investment banking demands near-constant availability, making long vacations rare. Camaraderie forms through intense shared workloads, but work-life balance, though tough, is possible with discipline and intent.
From Passive Data to Active Preference Shaping
AI playlisting exemplifies the shift from interpreting blunt signals like “skips” to understanding rich user intent expressed in plain language. Users can now specify genres, BPMs, moods, and artists, transforming Spotify into a direct reflection of a user’s internal mental model.
Generative AI Will Empower All Employees, Not Just Developers
Spotify is embracing Model Context Protocol (MCP) standards to expose internal data as APIs. This enables non-technical staff to prototype features or query backend data in natural language, democratizing innovation across roles.
💡 Eko Worth Remembering
Just remember: the people that say, ‘your dreams are impossible’ already gave up on theirs.
🛤️ Off the Record
Happy Friday!
What a week it has been. BTC all-time highs, Trump banning enrollment into Harvard for international students, Israeli diplomats killed on American soil.
I don’t say all this to be negative, just a sort of reality check to lift our heads out of the water. Most of our day-to-days consist of doing things we love and, well, in a very secure and pleasant environment. Many are not so lucky. So while we continue grind, remember to pick that head up, and realize how nice of a view you have!
